This 2010 ad for Armani Jeans features model/actress Megan Fox and Portuguese soccer star Ronaldo. Shot as a short black-and-white style film, Ronaldo plays a room service attendant in an expensive hotel. He knocks on Fox’s door, and she answers wearing only lingerie and a silk gown. While he sets up the food tray in her room, she gets dressed in an adjoining room which is visible through a mirror. Several camera shots linger on Fox’s waist in her tight jeans, while Ronaldo looks increasingly curious and flustered as she dresses. When, fully clothed, she re-emerges and offers him a tip. He refuses the money, but says “Thank you very much.”
Based on a true story, this trailer of director Ryan Coogler’s debut feature film Fruitvale Station (2013) characterizes and showcases the experiences of protagonist Oscar Grant, a young African American man living in a working class area of Oakland, CA. The quick snippets of the trailer paint Oscar in a sympathetic manner: he is a devoted father, boyfriend, and son who is struggling to find work to keep himself off the streets. However, a scuffle on the subway ensues when a former prison inmate of Oscar’s recognizes him. The violence quickly escalates as police officers throw Oscar onto the platform at Fruitvale Station. Although the trailer does not reveal what happens to Oscar, the 2008 incident and subsequent peaceful and violent protests point to another instance of an unarmed black man’s death by police shooting.

"Gossip Girl" is a television teen drama series that ran from 2007 to 2012. In this promo from a season two, upper-class protagonist Serena (played by Blake Lively) and middle-class poet Dan (played by Penn Badgely) are on a bus. Serena instigates a series of increasingly seductive gestures, first offering him a magazine, biting into a chocolate-covered strawberry and voraciously sucking her fingers, falling into his lap, and finally grabbing him and leading him towards the bus toilet where they hook up. The controvesial promo was part of a larger campaign designed to be shocking and provocative, using taglines such as "OMFG!" on billboards and posters. The campaign also appropriated negative press received from watchdog groups ("mind blowingly inappropriate" and "bad for you"), and turned the criticsim around as a way to brand the show and its racy content.
