Critical Makers Lab Helps Students...
who am i? where am i? what am i a part of? what am i not? how am i seen and represented? what is my why?
the lab will be led by a series of questions, asking you to reflect on who you are and how you can represent yourself, your community, your story.
each module includes
- a 20-30 minute explainer video highlighting key concepts, vocabulary, and media with opportunities to pause and reflect with clear discussion questions to guide in class conversations.
- a how to video for each media making diy project
- a written prompt for each corresponding diy project with clear instructions for students to create their media
- a teaching guide with materials and suggested timelines with pacing
*the curriculum is flexible! the six modules are designed to be used in sequence. teachers also may decide to pick and choose individual or small sets of modules to implement.
*a module typically takes between 1-3 weeks depending on teacher expectations and curricular plans.
responsibility, conduct, and respect
the makers lab supports students and teachers in developing resilience. the success of the program requires the cooperation of everyone involved! makers lab meetings and discussions should be brave spaces for everyone to share and be vulnerable. all students should possess an open mind and a sense of self-awareness when interacting with their peers and teachers.
